Joseph F. Ciucevich, Sr.

Joseph F. Ciucevich, Sr., 95, died Thursday, July 5, 2012 at Azalealand Nursing Home, under the care of Hospice Savannah, Inc. He was born October 5, 1916 to Edward J. and Louise Melcher Ciucevich. He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene E. Riley Ciucevich, his parents, his brothers, John, Gilbert, Edward, Walter and William Ciucevich and sister, Louise C. Sullivan.
Joe was a lifelong resident of Savannah, born and raised in the Troupe Square Neighborhood, of the Old Fort District. His father owned and operated the Acme Plumbing Co.; he attended the old Marist School. During World War II, he worked at Savannah Machine and Shipyard and retired from there in 1981. He was a communicant of Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church and a past member of their men's club. Also, a past member of the Knights of Columbus, the American Red Cross Gallon Club, Boilermakers Local 26 and one of the last Acme Troupe Square Boy's.
Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, Joseph Ciucevich, Jr. Delores of Savannah; daughter, Nancy C. Story of Boulder, Colorado; grandchildren, Joseph F. III Nu, Margaret Elizabeth, Amy Marie and Ruskin Thomas Jamie Ciucevich, Patricia C. Mark Hufham, Sean Dian, Julia and Mariella Story; great grandchildren, Mark Stuckey, II, Cara and Sophie Story and Ethan T. Ciucevich; a sister, Julianna C. Paige and brother, David Helen Ciucevich; and loved nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, July 6, 2012 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Islands Chapel with a vigil service at 7:00 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial: 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 7, 2012 at the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist with Father David Koetter Celebrant.
Burial: Bonaventure Cemetery.
